Times are changing with everybody feeling the economic pinch. Never the less couples are still getting married but they are approaching the planning of their big day very differently, looking for those last minute deals that many hotels offer to try to keep their businesses thriving. We have certainly seen this trend increase over the last couple of years with many of our clients booking us to photograph their wedding with as little as 4 weeks notice, not the typical 1-2 years that we are used to.

Victoria & Ian are one such couple who booked us to photograph their dream wedding at the luxurious Fawsley Hall near Daventry with just four weeks until the big day. Luckily we were available and we were so pleased to be able to be a part of their big day. Following a very quickly planned engagement shoot at Fawsley Hall the wedding day was soon upon us and what a fantastic day it was. We started at 9am with Victoria getting prepared in the lavish bridal suite, capturing everything through to late into the evening with everyone partying on the dance floor. Victoria and Ian also booked our photobooth for the evening which went down a storm, Victoria’s sisters were in fits of laughter with the wigs and hats from our prop box an hour before the booth opened.

We were so impressed with how quickly they pulled their wedding together, there was nothing missing, every detail covered. As you will see from the photos the day was full of emotion, smiles and laughter and even though we are accustom to seeing brides, Victoria looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress.

At a wedding I am always studying the environment to plan where the best locations are to create beautiful images throughout the day. Often the Bride & Groom are amazed at the style and imagination that has gone into producing their wedding images at locations where they thought we could potentially struggle to find a good spot. At Fawsley Hall you could almost say the opposite is true. Everywhere you turn there are stunning rooms that you can let your creativity go wild in, a photographers dream venue and certainly one of my favourites. Here is a little sneak peek at Victoria’s and Ian’s wedding on Saturday.

This portrait was taken in the bridal suite which comprises of the bedroom, hallway, two lavish bathrooms and a sitting room with a fantastic view into the main hall. As you can see the bedroom has an exquisitely decorated four poster bed which sits adjacent to a leaded bay window overlooking the manicured gardens. How could I not use this to for one of Victoria’s bridal preparation portraits. This is one of a sequence of shots taken in the bedroom, all of which I have a sneaky feeling will appear in their wedding album.

In preparation for 17th November we met up with Ian and Victoria at the fantastic Fawsley hall to have a pre-wedding Engagement Shoot. I always love visiting Fawsley hall, the single track gated road winds alongside a stream and a couple of ponds then you spot the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, turn sharp right and then Fawsley Hall presents itself in all of its glory. The first time you try to find the Hall you doubt your directions but once you discover it you can’t help feeling that you have discovered a real hidden gem in the heart of Northamptonshire. The Hall is steeped in history, dating back to 1416, with numerous royal connections throughout the centuries. This really is a magical venue for a dream wedding.

The three of us explored the grounds and the buildings to help us plan the big day and to get Ian and Victoria comfortable in-front of the camera before the wedding day arrives. Many couples initially doubt the importance of these practice session but without fail, after having an Engagement Shoot, every couple is glad of the practice and to have a chance to understand the type of direction I will be giving them on the big day. Ian and Victoria now understand how their photography schedule will work on the wedding day and how well they both photograph. Victoria admittedly started the session nervous and finished expressing how excited she now is about the wedding photography - exactly what we like to hear. Roll on Saturday, all-inclusive wedding photography and photo booth hire, its going to be one to remember :)
